IT ALL SOUNDS GREAT, BUT WHAT DOES THIS APP ACTUALLY DO?Swhoon app: 1.Allows racers to record their lap data, then quickly compare their data to other racers to then learn how to go faster. 2. Puts your times on a leaderboard automatically for people to compete. 3. Automatically classifies your fastest lap and handicaps the time for close and competitive racing.

WHY THE NAME SWHOON?Swoon + Hoon = Swhoon* "Swoon" is a Chemical Brother's song with the lyrics "Just remember to fall in love, There's nothing else". Eric's company is his love letter to cars and the motorsport community. Swhoon is a company he has put his heart into. "Hoon" is a nod to Ken Block, founder of Hoonigan and automotive legend, a hero of ours. *We could also buy the .com cheaply and it works well on Google search...

I’VE SEEN OTHER APPS THAT SERVE SIMILAR PURPOSES. WHAT MAKES YOUR APP THE BEST?We've simplified the process, opened it up to all users, and worked with folks who designed renowned apps, like Airbnb, for a clean and intuitive experience. We are also the world's first app to do auto classification and handicapping so you can race competitively and fairly in whatever car you drive.

WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST/OLDEST APPLE DEVICE I CAN USE WITH SWHOON?Swhoon requires the device to run at least IOS 15.5. So technically, you can run it with an iPhone 6s, but it might not run well. See the full list of IOS 15 compatible devices: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/supported-models-iphe3fa5df43/15.0/ios/15.0 We suggest you get a device that can run IOS 16. The oldest models to run IOS 16 are iPhone SE(2nd gen), 8 and X. At the time of this writing, they are between $140-$200 used. The cheapest new iPhone is the iPhone SE starting at $429. See the full list at: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/supported-models-iphe3fa5df43/ios If you want to use an iPad, we suggest the iPad mini (6th generation) and iPad mini (5th generation). New the iPad Mini starts at $499. Full list at: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213411 Swhoon uses small amounts of space since the majority of the data is stored in the cloud, so the smallest storage of 64 gb is fine to get. To save on data, just use your phone as a hot spot to get data to your extra Apple device. It works well.

WHAT DO I NEED TO USE THE APP?All you need is a iPhone X or later. You can use the iPhone's internal 1 Hz (1 GPS data per second) GPS, but we suggest using a high frequency Bluetooth GPS and a strong phone mount.
-
WHAT IS YOUR RECOMMENDED GPS?Our recommended Bluetooth GPS is the Racebox Mini. It's 25 hz, has an incredible 20 hr battery life and is reliable. We also support the Dual XGPS-160 and the Vbox Sport, but both are 10 hz and not as reliable as the Racebox Mini.
-
WHAT IS YOUR RECOMMENDED PHONE MOUNT?We have found the Apex Pro Motorsport Mount is the best (https://apextrackcoach.com/product/smartphone-mount/) RAM mounts also work well (https://rammount.com/collections/apple-iphone-mounts/products/ram-hol-un10bu)

THE APP ISN'T RECORDING LAPS! WTF!We feel your pain. It is the worst when you don't record a lap. We are working on getting this as reliable as possible so please be patient with us and please reach out to us when this happens. Here are the probable reasons for laps not recording, in no particular order: 1. Is your phone screen is locked, or another IOS app is in the foreground. The screen needs to be on with Swhoon running for it to work. Apple doesn't allow high frequency GPS data running in the background. 2. You haven't set the track for your autocross or track day, or the start/finish isn't set yet. 3. You have selected the wrong track. 4. Your XGPS-160 has been on for too long and need it to be restarted. We have found that after a few hours of use, the connection drops off and needs to be restarted. 5. Is the Start Line was wide as it can be? Depending on the GPS you are using, it's accuracy can be +/- 15 feet (for the iPhone Internal GPS) so make the Start and Finish Line as wide as possible without risking extending over another part of the course. 6. The Racebox Mini hasn't found your exact location yet. GPS require 3-5 minutes to find your exact location. After you hit Ready in the Race screen, make sure the arrow is where you think you are in the map. As you drive closer to the Start Line, make sure you see it and that it makes sense. If the bottom map looks like it is below, black, or in the wrong location, wait for the GPS to find you, or restart the app if it isn't moving.

I DON'T SEE MY TRACK OR EVENT?We are slowly adding tracks where we see interest in the app. Email us (contact@swhoon.com) if you want us to add your track, or event. We currently pull events from Motorsportsreg, but sometimes things don't pull correctly. Let us know.
